Apparently driving my car below the posted speed limit through a residential area while returning to my house in (the really long) second gear with a legal db exhaust is not okay. Who knew?

My Nextdoor is blowing up right now with people freaking out about the local R35 GT-R owner “racing” through the neighborhood every night. I chimed in saying that he has a titanium exhaust on it that just sounds loud, and I haven’t seen him going more than 5 over. Got one thank from of the few other enthusiasts here and the crotchety dog walkers then fired back with escalating estimates of 50, 55, and 60 MPH. I walk my dogs on the same roads. I’ve nearly been run over by several beigemobiles quietly going 60 along the 35, but someone going slower in a loud car gets all the grief from the people who think they are somehow entitled to peace and quiet while out in public during the daytime hours.

If they can hear your engine then you MUST be going too fast, right?

Been there. Go down the street at 5-6k RPM in second in my S2000... “Asshole!”

If someone was driving slowly through my neighborhood I’d assume they were up to no good.

Fair enough, it’s just that I wasn’t going that slowly, either. 25 in a 30 zone.

Yup. I’m betting a lot of my neighbourhood hates the Slamther, except for my next door neighbour who has a Ducati of some sort and what appears to be a late 60s FJ40 in a glossy desert sand colour with a white roof and very tasteful polished off road wheels (new acquisition).

5k in first in the Slamther would probably get the cops called, lol.
